Al Buraimi Governorate ramps up efforts to eradicate Ghaf trees

MUSCAT : Engineer Nasser bin Ali Al Marshoudi, the Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Al Buraimi Governorate, highlighted the ongoing initiatives to eliminate the ghaf trees. He noted that extensive campaigns and work camps have been instrumental in containing the spread of this tree species, with an impressive achievement rate of 97 per cent across the targeted area of ​​95,238 acres.

The Directorate’s efforts have been particularly effective in the wilayats of Mahdha and Sunaina, where the ghaf trees have been successfully eradicated. The current focus is on the Buraimi wilayat, specifically the Hafeet district, where coordinated plans are in place to complete the eradication campaign.

Al Marshoudi emphasized the collaborative approach adopted by the Directorate, working closely with government and private entities in the governorate. Specialized equipment and machinery have been deployed, and local workforce participation has been pivotal in advancing the project.
