MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development issued a clarification regarding the high interest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq for Omani students from social security families and limited income: To provide school supplies and daily meals.
This came through a circular issued by the Ministry, in which it clarifies that the approved amounts for the first semester of the year 2022-2023 amounted to OMR 4,074,070 while the educational requirements amounted to OMR 25 per student and was spent once at the beginning of the academic year as of September, 2022.
The amount for daily meals is RO 11 per student, which is spent as daily vouchers worth 500 baisa for 22 school days per month.
The ministry reviewed the target groups, as the number of children from social security families is 24,665 while the number of children from low-income families is 34,365, with a total of 59,030 boys and girls.
The Ministry also clarified about the mechanism and implementation of the schemes.
The approved amounts will be transferred to the student in the bank accounts of the social security families by the Ministry of Social Development and for the families of low income, the approved amounts will be transferred to the student by the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry also confirmed that the daily food purchase vouchers for children of social security families and limited income are paid through the Ministry of Education.
