ISC Malayalam Wing all set to celebrate Onam in Muscat

MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club (ISC) Malayalam Wing is all to celebrate Onam with pomp and gaiety at the Le Grand Hall of Al Falaj Hotel in Muscat for two days.

Addressing the press conference, the ISC Malayalam Wing officials said preparations are in full-swing to celebrate the harvest festival of Kerala. Various colourful activities will be held on September 22, while the customary Onam Sadhya will be held on Saturday, September 23 that starts at 11:30am. A special chef from Kerala will supervise the preparation of sadhya for 2,500 people.

Well-known philanthropist K.N. Anand Kumar will attend the event as the Guest of Honour, while Indian Ambassador H.E. Amit Narang, and H.E. Ahmed Rashid, a counsellor, will also attend as chief guests.

“This year’s Onam celebration is different from what we had done in the past because it is a celebrity-less Onam. This time it is more of a purpose oriented Onam for the Malayalam wing,” informed Ajit Vasudevan, Convenor of ISC Malayalam Wing.

Kumar is the Executive Director and one of the founders of the Sree Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust in Kerala. He has been a philanthropist for the past 30 years, contributing to more than 200 projects through almost 124 branches in Kerala.

According to Ajit, Malayalam Wing will also felicitate some students with excellence awards and also honour individuals for their contributions to the society.
