Madayn opens 1st phase of Ibri industrial city project

Muscat – The project was opened under the patronage of H.E. Najeeb bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah and in the presence of H.E. Engineer Ahmed Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), and Eng Daoud Al Haddabi, CEO of Madayn.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Najeeb Al Rawas stated that the opening of the first phase of Ibri Industrial City is structured to continue the government’s plans of distributing economic development in various governorates of Oman. He explained that it is in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, and it is aimed at creating a competitive environment that attracts local and foreign investment.

Total area of the industrial city is approximately 10 million square metres; Madayn has developed the first phase on an area of 3 million square metres, and at an investment cost of RO 9 million.
First phase development project includes the implementation of roads, a truck parking area, a water network and tank, a fire-fighting network, a water tank, sewage networks and a collection tank, a rainwater protection dam, and a water tank, as well as security and surveillance cameras.
The opening ceremony witnessed the signing of 4 investment contracts:

  1. With Saih Al-Sariya Company to establish a factory specialized in the oil and gas industries, to be built on a total area of 60 thousand square meters, at an investment cost of up to RO 6 million.
  2. With the Fifth Wave Food Industries Company to establish a factory specializing in food industries (roasted coffee and its derivatives) on an area of 5,000 square meters, at an investment cost of half a million Omani riyals.
  3. With Raad Ibri Company to establish a factory specialized in manufacturing industries (coal and its derivatives) on an area of 5,000 square meters and at an investment cost exceeding RO 250,000.
  4. With Al Meeza United Company, which specializes in light industries (cardboard), to establish a project on an area of 8,000 square meters, at a total cost exceeding RO 250,000 Omani riyals.
