The agreement stipulates that the University shall provide technical consultations to examine and study materials of modern building systems, while Muscat Municipality receives applications from construction companies to evaluate these systems and ensure that they comply with the safety requirements and the local environment of the Sultanate of Oman.

The agreement aims to establish a joint framework with SQU to benefit from the recent knowledge and modern laboratories of the college of engineering to support Muscat Municipality’s endeavours in developing and adopting modern building materials and systems.
H.E Ahmed Al Humaidi explained that this agreement stems from the Municipality’s pursuit to keep pace with global developments in construction and architecture using up-to-date technologies, materials and methods, and to speed up the pace of urban development in modern ways that are consistent with the current lifestyle of the city.
It will also provide job opportunities for Omani engineers, technicians and those interested in new start-ups and small and medium enterprises.
