MUSCAT : Based on Local Order No. 23/92 regarding the organization of buildings in Muscat, the circular states that it is not permissible to carry out any excavation, demolition and construction works between sunset and sunrise, as well as on official holidays and Fridays in residential neighborhoods, without obtaining a prior approval from the municipality, and under the conditions it determines.
‘Likewise, no contractor is allowed to start work, except after obtaining a permit to do so from the municipality in accordance with the requirements followed in this regard, after the owner or his representative submits proof of receipt of the land plot boundaries, signed by the Ministry of Housing.
‘Whoever violates the provisions of this order shall be punished with an administrative fine of OMR 500, with the violator obligated to stop immediately,’ the circular stated.
