OCCI initiates new electoral practice; holds introductory meetings for candidates to the post of chairman & deputies

MUSCAT : OCCI held introductory meetings to provide a platform for the candidates to present their future plans and visions in managing the Chamber’s business for the coming period at its headquarters. Following this, a meeting will be held on November 28 for members of the Board of Directors to choose the Chairman and his two deputies through a secret ballot.

Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion and Chairman of the Main Committee for OCCI elections, explained that these meetings are a new electoral practice in the history of the Chamber, allowing that allows candidates to present their electoral programs and future visions to develop the work of the Chamber.

He added that such meetings are an opportunity for the members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors to get acquainted closely with the electoral programs of the candidates in order to choose the most efficient and best candidate. This, he said, will improve the selection process and support the electoral process in the Sultanate of Oman.
