Muscat – H.E. Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his speech at the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, appealed to the international community on the importance of adhering to the Charter of the United Nations in addressing and settling conflicts by pursuing dialogue as a path to peaceful solutions.
He referred to the Palestinian issue, and the injustice that the Palestinian people have suffered for more than 70 years as a result of Israeli occupation. He asserted that there is no room for peace except through the two-state solution stipulated in the Arab Peace Initiative, Israel’s withdrawal from the territories occupied since 1967 AD, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Minister also pointed out that the Russian-Ukrainian war poses a serious threat to global peace and the flow of energy and food supply chains, calling for dialogue and peaceful negotiations.
He also affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s rejection and denunciation of all acts of incitement to violence, hatred and discrimination, calling on the international community to find clear and explicit legislation that criminalizes such acts.
He called on the international community to encourage partnership in the field of research and innovation in order to create a more resilient and capable environment to address health emergencies. He discussed Oman’s Vision 2040 and the attention it attaches to achieving sustainable development that transcends challenges and obstacles, while pointing out the strategy of zero carbon neutrality by 2050 and the importance of investing in renewable energy projects to achieve this goal.
He referred to the efforts made in the Sultanate of Oman to consolidate human rights and adherence to relevant international charters and agreements.
In conclusion, and in light of the current complex global challenges, His Excellency called for the importance of firmly adhering to the principles of truth, justice, and the application of international law without double standards, so that security and reassurance prevail among people.
