Oman bans import, marketing or production of hydrogenated oils

MUSCAT: Starting from Sunday, July 24, import, marketing or production of partially hydrogenated oils and food products will be banned.

The Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources issued a decision in April 2022 which amended some provisions of the Food Safety Regulation.

These provisions were related to the prohibition of the production, import or marketing of partially halal oils, and food products in which these oils are used.

This decision comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources to establish an integrated and effective system for food safety.
