Muscat – Chaired by H.E. Dr. Nasser Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, the 8th meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials in the Economic and Development Affairs Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council states reviewed the proposal of the General Secretariat regarding the governance of joint Gulf economic and development work, and the latest developments in the action plan for building the Gulf economic model.
H.E. Dr. Al Ma’awali stressed the need to dedicate work to the implementation of Gulf economic integration and development projects, such as projects and initiatives related to the customs union, the Gulf common market, the railway, and the liberalization of trade and investment.

In a speech delivered on the occasion, he stated: “Our countries witnessed unprecedented achievements and great competitive indicators, and established fraternal relations between the GCC states, under the generous guidance and sound wisdom of their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states, which resulted in many achievements that support the integration of joint Gulf action.
“We must focus our efforts on the next stage on resolving the issues that impede reaching economic unity. We need to conduct an assessment of the achievements and a review of the plans related to the work system in the Economic and Development Affairs Authority, and the need to devote work to the implementation of Gulf economic integration and development projects, such as projects and initiatives related to the customs union, the Gulf common market, the railway, and the liberalization of trade and investment,” he added.
