Oman-Jordan final match venue shifted

MUSCAT:  The Jordan Football Association has decided to shift the venue of final of International Quartet Friendly Championship between hosts Jordan and Oman to be played on Monday from the King Abdullah II stadium in Amman to Amman International Stadium.

According to Oman News Agency, the reasons provided by the hosts JFA included ‘proximity’ of the venue for football fans and logistics purposes.

Earlier on Friday at the King Abdullah II stadium, Amman, Oman squeezed out a 4-3 via shootout win over Iraq in the opener while Jordan blanked Syria 2-0 later in the evening.

In the final Oman will face the hosts at Amman International Stadium on Sunday 10pm Oman time while Iraq will take on Syria in the play-off same evening (7pm).  

Against Iraq, Oman lost forward Mohsin al Ghassani due to injury in end of a dull and goalless first half and Essam al Subhi took his position.

After the break, Omar Al Malki broke the deadlock when his header in the 82 minute while Iraq negated the lead through from an Ayman Hussaid header three minutes later.

In the ensuing shootout, Oman goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini saved three Iraqi penalties. For Oman,  Issam Al Subhi, Motaz Saleh, Mohammed Al Mosalami and Jameel al Yahmadi converted from the spot while Salah al Yahyaei, and Oamr Al Malki were wayward with their attempts.
