Oman unveils national guides for early childhood development

Muscat – The guides cover a range of crucial aspects, including the National Standards Guide for Nurseries, Nursery Activities Guide for different age levels, Health Care Guide, and Parental Care Guide.
The inauguration ceremony, presided over by H.E. Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, highlighted the importance of this initiative in promoting early childhood education and social development.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Nasser bin Bakr Alkahtani, Executive Director of AGFUND, emphasized the strategic significance of addressing childhood development. He underscored AGFUND’s commitment to supporting projects that contribute to sustainable human development, particularly in early childhood education.

The event also included the graduation of 90 supervisors from the second batch of a training program for childhood education institutions, highlighting the commitment to capacity building in this vital sector.
One of the key components of the initiative is the ‘Guide to National Standards for Nurseries and their Classification in the Sultanate of Oman,’ which aims to establish clear standards and classification criteria for nurseries in the country. This guide will not only improve existing nursery conditions but also set the groundwork for the establishment of future institutions, fostering positive developmental outcomes for children and communities.

The Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with its partners, conducted an evaluation study on nursery conditions in Oman to identify needs and assess effectiveness, laying the groundwork for this comprehensive initiative.
