Oman witnesses 300% growth in tourists from Russia

Muscat – The number of Russian tourists reached 53,145 in 2023, compared to about 13,000 in 2022.
This growth in the number of visitors from Russia was highlighted by H.E. Azzan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, at the ongoing promotional workshops in Russia.

Oman is showcasing its diverse tourism offerings to the Russian market through promotional workshops currently underway in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the workshops aim to increase tourist arrivals from Russia, a rapidly growing source market for Oman.

The delegation, led by H.E. Azzan Al Busaidi, includes representatives from 20 Omani tourism companies and institutions. The workshops feature bilateral meetings between Omani and Russian tourism businesses, creating valuable networking opportunities.

“These workshops are designed to introduce the most prominent tourism experiences in Oman to key Russian travel companies,” stated Al Busaidi. “We aim to strengthen ties between Omani and Russian tourism operators, attracting more Russian visitors to explore our beautiful country.”

His Excellency explained that Russia is considered one of the important sources of tourism to various destinations in the world and to the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman’s tourism industry witnessed a significant surge in Russian tourists in 2023, with a 300 percent increase compared to 2022. The number of Russian tourists reached 53,145 in 2023, compared to about 13,000 tourists in 2022. The workshops aim to build on this momentum, highlighting Oman’s unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and luxurious hospitality.

The Ministry’s participation in these workshops follows successful promotional campaigns in other international markets. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to solidify Oman’s position as a leading global tourist destination.
