Omani-Brazilian Investment Forum kicks off

MUSCAT : Jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Forum and the accompanying Brazilian exhibition was launched under the auspices of H.E. Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, H.E. Celso Sabino Oliveira, Brazilian Minister of Tourism, and Sheikh Rashid bin Amer Al Maslahi, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI, with the participation of a number of government agencies.

The forum’s activities will continue until May 8.

The two-day forum seeks to highlight investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Brazil, especially in the areas of investment, clean energy, re-export, heavy industries, food security and information technology, and to open broader horizons for exchanging expertise and experiences between the two countries in the fields of research, innovation, agriculture, space and mining.

H.E. Celso Sabino Oliveira, Brazilian Minister of Tourism, stressed the need to strengthen partnerships in various investment and economic aspects between the two friendly countries, in addition to enhancing successful commercial experiences between the two countries, calling for intensifying investment and commercial cooperation and exchanging experiences in various fields.

Speaking at the occasion, H.E. Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said that the forum confirms the depth of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, and is an opportunity to introduce the business and investment environment in the Sultanate of Oman.

For his part, H.E. Talal bin Sulaiman Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Federal Republic of Brazil, said that celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brazil is an opportunity for companies and businessmen from both countries to learn about commercial and investment opportunities.
