Omani ports witness spike in volume of cargo

MUSCAT: Omani ports witnessed a steep spike in the volume of bulk, general and liquid cargo by 5% to reach 42.76 million tons in the first half of 2022, compared to 40.61 million tons in 2021, according to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) represented by the Directorate General of Ports.

The number of containers also recorded an increase of 2% to reach 2.58 million TEUs compared to 2.53 million TEUs in the same period last year due to the increase in the number of containers in the port of Salalah by 2%.
