Omani students secure first place in Regional Organization for Environmental Protection competition

Muscat: This year’s competition, “The Effects of Coral Reef Deterioration on Marine Life and Beaches,” was hosted by the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment in Kuwait, coinciding with the Regional Environment Day celebrations. Maryam bint Ali Al-Riyamiya, one of the winners, shared insights into her creative process, highlighting the profound impact of pesticides on marine ecosystems. Her dedication and artistic prowess earned her the first-place position and served as a source of inspiration for fellow participants.

Another competition star, Nasiba bin Nasser Al-Shamakhiya from Aisha Al-Riyamiya School, received the organization’s Executive Secretary Award. She spoke of the rigorous selection process that began at the school level, culminating in her exceptional artwork that vividly depicted the competition’s designated theme. Both students expressed gratitude for the support and guidance from mentors and educators, which played a pivotal role in their success.
