MUSCAT : The Ministry stated that applications for coastal fishing licenses will be opened next year, and this will be announced through the official ministry platforms and local media.
The Ministry also warned that buying or building coastal fishing vessels without obtaining final approval from it is in violation of the provisions of Article 58 of the Living Aquatic Resources Law, and Article 2 of the executive regulations of the Marine Fishing Law and the Protection of Living Aquatic Resources.
“Accordingly, the Ministry is not responsible for any financial consequences resulting from this behavior and is not obligated to issue licenses for vessels that do not obtain final approval. In order to avoid any legal consequences, please adhere to what has been referred to regarding the mechanism of procedures governing licensing coastal fishing activity,” it stated.
