Muscat – Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, met today, August 17, with H.E. S. Sumanth, President of ISRO, and a number of officials and specialists in the Organization.
As a cooperation initiative between the Ministry and ISRO, Oman’s Minister inaugurated the Indian-Omani platform for Earth Observation, which was developed by the Organization, and which includes images and data of Indian earth observation satellites. It aims to maximize its usefulness for terrestrial space applications by making it available for the uses of various development sectors such as agriculture, water and fisheries, transportation, natural disaster management, urban development, renewable energy and other uses.

On the sidelines of the visit, His Excellency the Minister and his accompanying delegation visited the Indian Satellite Control and Monitoring Center, where they were briefed on the stage of separation of the ‘Chandrayaan 3’ vehicle from the capsule to prepare for landing on the moon’s surface.
The Minister held a joint meeting with a number of Indian companies specialized in space industries and some emerging Indian companies in the information and communication technology sector to learn about their experience and the services they provide, in addition to marketing the investment opportunities available in the Omani market.
