MUSCAT: The TRA announced the start of preparations for Oman’s participation in the International Letter-writing Competition for the year 2023, which is organized annually by the Universal Postal Union to improve education through the art of writing letters.
The competition aims to encourage young students to use letter writing to express their ideas and opinions on various subjects. This year’s theme on road safety requires students to follow this cue: ‘Imagine you are a superhero, and your mission is to make all roads around the world safer for children. Write a letter to someone explaining which superpowers you need to achieve your mission.’
Competition terms:
• The competition is open to participants aged between 9 and 15 years
• The letter should be written in Arabic
• The original letter may contain drawings from the student
• Submissions must adhere strictly to the topic and word limit of 500 to 800 words.
• The letter should be handwritten and attached to a color scanner in PDF format; the letter should printed and attached as another copy in Word format
• The deadline for receiving letters is Thursday, April 20, 2023
A jury will be appointed in the governorates to be responsible for the submissions and they will use preset criteria to evaluate the submissions.
The first, second and third winners at the national level will be selected by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the first winner will qualify to participate at the international level.
