Oman’s TRA seeks public input on regulations for ESVs

MUSCAT : The consultation aims to gather input on proposed provisions governing ESVs operating in specified frequency bands.

TRA’s review covers ESV operation in the 5925-6425 MHz and 14-14.5 GHz frequency bands for the uplink and in the 3700-4200 MHz and 10.7-12.75 GHz frequency bands for the downlink. The proposed amendments align with recommendations from the International Telecommunication Union and other international bodies, as well as with Oman’s telecommunications market requirements.

TRA invites all parties to participate and provide their comments and views on the consultation document (https://t.co/YyICkIHOJF). Responses can be submitted via an online questionnaire provided by TRA. The deadline for submissions is April 11, 2024.

Key objectives of the regulatory framework include efficient management of natural resources, fostering a conducive environment for investment, promoting innovative technologies and services, and supporting research and development.

The regulatory framework aims to update technical and operational provisions, accommodate advancements in radio communication technology, and enhance the quality of communication services in Oman.

TRA underscores that while all responses will be reviewed, the authority is not obliged to incorporate all comments into the final provisions.

Stakeholders are urged to actively engage in the consultation process to ensure that the regulatory framework reflects the evolving needs of Oman’s telecommunications sector.
