Over 1700 students partake in ISM’s Jhankaar Hues

Muscat: Indian School Muscat unveiled the second edition of Jhankaar HUES- Inter House Plethora of Talents on its premises on 31st May and 1st June, 2023, an apt platform for the youth of today endowed with different talents to exhibit their hidden potentials, surge ahead, unfold new horizons, and rediscover the latent talents that unlock the door to personal excellence. This mammoth event organized by ISM witnessed 1733 participants testing their mettle with their compeers and their talents in 32 events held at different venues.

The inaugural function of the much-admired and impressive event commenced with the ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ by the Chief Guest, Mr Saleem Saki, a renowned artist in the Sultanate of Oman accompanied by the Guest of Honour, Mr Amardeep Shinde, President, Indian School Management Committee and  other esteemed members of the School Management Committee, Indian School Muscat. Honourable Chief Guest, President, Vice-President, Convener, Treasurer, Co-convener, revered Principal, Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Senior Vice-Principal, Vice-Principals, Asst. Vice-Principals, Heads of various Departments, teachers, proud participants, parents and well-wishers added grandeur to the inaugural ceremony.

 The inaugural ceremony set the ideal tone for the day with a graceful invocation dance choreographed by the Performing Arts team signifying every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The Head Boy of the Senior Section welcomed the gathering to this much awaited historic event. The video presentation portraying glimpses of Jhankaar Hues held in 2022-23 left the audience in awe and the presentation exhibiting the preparation that has gone in for this year’s events inspired and instilled the contestants with confidence, and the audience eager to know which house would bag the coveted trophy.

Marching majestically, the 4 House Captains ceremoniously carried the Jhankar Hues Flag into the hall and Senior Council Co-curricular Coordinator, Calida Machado took the oath on behalf of all the participants. The Chief Guest hoisted the Jhankaar Hues flag declaring the Talent Fest open. Lauding the events at ISM, he mentioned that he was delighted to be there and hoped to witness a great event. Guest of Honour, Mr Amardeep Shinde, President, School Management Committee, Indian School Muscat in his address wished luck to all the participants and remarked, ‘Jhankaar is a festival of collaboration’.

As a gesture of love, appreciation and gratitude, Sumera Azeem Kazi of XII J, presented our Chief Guest with a memento. The Inaugural Ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Head Girl of the Senior section. ISM witnessed the synergy of youth creativity and talent quotient with the two-day cultural extravaganza rolled to test exceptional talents. A thrill unlike any other was witnessed in these two days. The school was jam packed with overwhelming participants and students cheering for their house mates. The active participation of the students affirmed the relevance and meaningfulness of this programme.

This carnival of talents concluded with an evocative valedictory function held at 5:30 p.m on 1st June, 2023. The benign presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Vice President, Indian School Muscat Management Committee, Guest of Honour, Mr Sharafdeen Yoosaf, Convener, Indian School Muscat Management Committee, President, Treasurer, Co-convener, Principal, Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Senior Vice-Principal, Vice-Principals, Asst. Vice-Principals, Heads of various Departments, teachers, proud participants, parents and well-wishers enriched the momentous culmination of Jhankaar Hues 2023.

The event started with the prayer song preceded by the Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of India which elated the gathering with the notion of pride, gratitude and unwavering devotion. Chandrika Singh Yaduvanshi, Head Girl of the senior section, accorded a formal welcome to the august gathering. The audience was given an immersive experience of the enthralling and exhilarating two-day journey, through a digital synopsis. An array of spectacular performances from the winning teams acted as the pivot of zest and fervent expression of astounding talents. The best of the group events in certain categories mesmerized the gathering and surprised everyone with their stupendous and incredible forte. The prize winning ‘Mime’ and ‘Contemporary Dance’, which explored the socially relevant themes, were the core attraction of the event.

The heart throbbing moment of the event was the much anticipated declaration of results and prize distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour honoured the prize winning Houses with mementoes, certificates and trophies and the Chief Guest felt exhilarated, as he spoke, to be present there to witness the children appreciating and congratulating each other and rightly remarked that there is one talent in everyone that makes us unique. He applauded the teachers for scintillating that unique talent. As a good spectator of the exhibits, he asserted the truth that “the world needs students who are creative and innovative.” Principal, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Chauhan appreciated the students and the entire staff for the fantastic conduct of the event and added that the students have accumulated a lifetime’s worth of memories at the end of this two day event.

The declaration of the results enthralled the participants and the auditorium reverberated with jubilance and celebration as the Blue House lifted the most coveted ‘Championship Trophy’ at the ‘Jhaankar Hues 2023’. In the Sub-Junior Category, the Runner Up trophy was lifted by the yellow House and the Winning Trophy was lifted by the Blue House. The Runner up in the Junior Category was Blue House and the Winner was Green House. In the Senior Category, the Runner Up was Red House while the Winner was  Blue House.

Lowering of the Jhankaar Flag was truly an emotional and inspirational moment for all to perpetuate the zest and enthusiasm for the following years. The curtains of Jhankaar closed for the year 2023 with the vote of thanks proposed by the school Head Boy Anirudh Sajith Menon followed by the soulful rendition of the School Anthem. This massive array of art, linguistic and cultural events spoke volumes about the extent of dedication and commitment of all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
