Reena Rahman takes charge as CEO of Sun Air

MUSCAT: Reena Rahman, the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sun Air took charge at the airline’s headquarters in Khartoum, Sudan.

In her new role, Reena who has over two-decades of diverse experience in the aviation industry becomes the first Indian woman to be CEO of an airline in Africa.

Reena will continue to handle her position as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Alhind Tours and Travels that has over 200 branches both in India and around the world.

Reena’s appointment as CEO of Sun Air comes after Alhind recently purchased a 25% stake in the Sudan-based airline.
Located in Khartoum, Sun Air is the first privately owned airline company in Sudan to reach international destinations into African and Gulf Countries and expanding into further destinations in Europe and China.

“We are planning our inaugural flight to Cairo in September first week and thereafter to various parts of the world. The aim is to connect Africa to the entire world,” Reena said.

Reena, who has over 22 years of experience working with top airlines in the region, will also continue to oversee the Alhind Group’s operations in GCC, Bangladesh and Africa.

She worked previously with Oman’s SalamAir as Manager of Operations at the Control Centre. Starting her aviation career with leading airline Qatar Airways, Reena also held a top position in UAE-based Air Arabia.
