Rise in accidents but drop in compensation paid for insurance claims in Oman: Report

MUSCAT : In an online announcement, the Capital Market Authority stated that 76,200 accidents were recorded during the year 2022, and that the value of compensation paid for motor insurance claims, during the same period, was OMR 25 million.

Of the total number of traffic accidents, 15,300 were major, while 60,900 were minor accidents.

The percentage of claims for minor accidents was 64.3%, with OMR 12 million as compensation. Among the major accidents, compensation for accidents with damages was OMR 8.5 million, for bodily injuries and medical treatment was OMR 4 million, and for accidents that caused deaths was OMR 456,000.
