ROP nabs man for personating as cop in South Al Batinah

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police said that the Police Command of South Al Batinah Governorate arrested a person for impersonating a policeman and stole money from a person.

ROP tweeted which stated that the legal procedures against the impersonator has completed.

It is noteworthy that the legal penalty for impersonating policemen came in the Omani Penal Code issued by Royal Decree No. (7/2018 AD) in two articles, the first being Article No. (189) which stipulates that (he shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than a month and not exceeding a year, and a fine no less than OMR100 and not exceeding OMR 500, whoever impersonates a public official, and the impersonator shall be punished with imprisonment for a period no less than a year and not exceeding three years and a fine no less than OMR 500 and not exceeding OMR 1,000 if he carries out the work of a public office without right.

As for the second article No. 190, it stipulates that (he shall be punished by imprisonment for a period no less than (10) ten days and not exceeding a year, and a fine no less than OMR 100 and not exceeding OMR 300 if he publicly and unlawfully wore a uniform.
