MUSCAT: His Excellency Eng. Omar bin Hamdan Al-Ismaili, CEO of Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) visited Huawei Regional ICT Training Center that was established last year in collaboration with Omantel. During the official visit, TRA and Huawei reiterated commitment to develop local talents and explored ways of collaboration to support achieving Oman’s digital transformation and Vision 2040, in which building a sustainable knowledge-based economy is a key pillar.
The official visit of His Excellency Eng. Omar coincides with one week training being conducted at the center for Huawei locally hired experts coming from all Middle East region counties. During the visit, His Excellency had a tour in the various facilities of the training center and was introduced by Huawei Oman CEO, Chen Jianhan to the ICT training programs portfolio that the center provides for students, job seekers, local enterprise customers, and partners with the aim to motivate innovation, advance new technologies deployment for the benefit of all sectors and industries, and support talent development across Oman and the wider Middle East and Africa region.
The Huawei Regional ICT training center leverages various facilities including the 5G exhibition hall, Huawei HQ online exhibition hall and the Huawei ICT academy in Oman to provide ICT training services not only to local enterprise customers and talents but also to partners, customers and staff in the Middle East region and Africa. The training center is properly equipped with various devices that support and enhance the training programs and methods giving trainees the opportunity to learn and experience the latest advanced technologies, such as 5G, AI, IP, Security, Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Digital Power.

The Huawei Regional ICT Training Center is an example of the power of joint innovation aiming at equipping talents with ICT skills that enable and empower the workforce of tomorrow. It works comprehensively to achieve a number of goals, including supporting the economy and trade, by attracting experts from the Middle East and Africa to set up training courses. Since its launch, it attracted training courses and international meetings from all over the world, which were attended by more than 500 people specialized in economics, science, and various other fields.
