Delegation of British investors visit Oman Invest Hall

MUSCAT : The delegation toured the Hall to learn about the most important services and facilities it provides to investors wishing to invest in the Sultanate of Oman.

The visit also included a visual presentation that touched on the investment incentives in Oman and the investor residency program, and the advantages and facilities offered by the special economic zones and free zones.

The visit was organized by the British Embassy in Oman, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, within the framework of promoting and attracting foreign investments to the Sultanate and presenting the incentives and facilities offered to investors.

Ahmed bin Salem Al Rasbi, Director General of the Investment Services Center at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said that the British delegation was briefed on the important elements of the investment environment in the Sultanate of Oman, the role of the lounge and the services it provides to investors.

He added that the Sultanate of Oman is a leading destination for British investors, as the volume of British companies’ investment in the country reached $23.5 billion in 2022, an increase of 9.3 percent compared to 2021. He explained that this partnership has expanded in the past few years to include several sectors, most notably oil and gas, technology and infrastructure.

The volume of trade exchange in total exports between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom increased, reaching about $362.3 million during the month of October 2022, showing an increase of 20.3 percent over the year 2021.

Arwa bint Abdul Rahim Al Balushi, Minister Plenipotentiary – Commercial and Investment Attaché at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Kingdom, explained that the Hall received 30 British investors representing several sectors, including educational, financial, logistical, minerals, cybersecurity, technology and others, noting that these sectors are among the economic diversification sectors that focus on ‘Oman’s Vision 2040’.

She said that this visit contributes to strengthening economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom, and comes as a translation of the economic diplomacy carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to attract foreign investments and introduce the investment environment in the Sultanate of Oman.

During its visit to the Sultanate of Oman, the British delegation will meet a number of Omani business persons to discuss investment partnership opportunities and the possibility of opening branches for their companies’ products in the Omani market.
