Oman’s CPA seizes shops selling children’s candy in boxes resembling cigarette packs

MUSCAT : These products were deemed to contain ‘immoral drawings’ as they were packaged to look like regular brands of cigarette packs.

The CPA seized the candy and promptly removed it from store shelves. An investigation has been launched, and legal measures have been implemented. Additionally, the supplier has been ordered to cease distribution and remove all remaining stock from the market.

The CPA’s actions are based on Article 21 of the Consumer Protection Law, which mandates that the ‘provider is obligated to respect religious values, customs and traditions when providing the consumer with any good or receiving any service.’
